April Fools!!! No of course we don't have triplets, but when our niece, Annika, spent the night with us this weekend, we got to try out what it would have been like. Fortunately for us, all three kids are so wonderful (and self-sufficent) that it was no trouble at all and everyone had a wonderful evening. So, without further ado, the pictures . . .

We desperately tried to get a good photo of all three kids together, but Lenny couldn't keep his hands off Annika's hair and Faye was just fed up with the whole scenario.

We took all three kids out for a walk this morning after breakfast. Our kids are pretty early risers, so Annika was a bit tuckered out as you can see.

So of course, photos first.
Here are Lenny and Faye hamming it up today as soon as they saw the camera.

Lenny came racing at me once he saw the camera and got right up into the shots.
They're almost 11 months old! Can you believe it? I certainly can't and I've lived it! It's true, though, the kiddies turned 10 months earlier this month and they're really becoming more toddler-esque. They commando crawl all over the house (which has been much more thoroghly baby proofed) and they're getting so big!
We finally bought Lenny a big-boy car seat yesterday. He should be pretty happy about that as we'll no longer be jamming him into the bucket one that hasn't really fit for about a month. Petite little Faye still has some time in the bucket version left still, thankfully, as I'm not sure how I would ever take them out on my own if neither came equipped with a handle! Fortunately, as Lenny is already trying (with relative levels of success) to walk, I'm hoping he might walk before I have to move Faye up to the new car seat.
Well, I'm sure that's of interest only to me, really, so here are some more exciting factoids about the kids:
1) They're really into table food now as everyone who attended my cousin Timmy's birthday can attest. The up shot is they're so much easier to feed and we can pretty much travel with sippy cups and goldfish crakers. In fact, Faye likes table food so much that she screeches at the top of her voice if I'm eating something she particularly wants (like the goldfish crackers). It's VERY charming.
The down side? Well, did I mention the shrieking? And of course there's the fact that if I'm not feeding them I don't control what they're eating. Lenny and Faye are happy to convince whoever's holding them that what they really NEED to eat is cake, or cookies or chips or cake. They came home on such a sugar high yesterday, I honestly thought their eyes would be spinning in their sockets. But overall, they behaved pretty well post-dietary escapade and I loved not having to feed them. I mean come on, Ed and I feed them everyday, so if the price of uninterupted meal time for us is that the kids get some junk food, I say, "Let them eat cake!"
2) While he can't walk unassisted, Lenny will walk if you hold his hands and help him balance. This equals one very sore back for his proud mama, but you should see his face when he does it (I'll try and get a picture). He just lights up, he's so proud of himself!
3) Faye can now commando crawl almost as fast as Lenny and the two of them can easily make it from one end of the house to the other in less than three minutes. Why is this of interst you might ask? Because in less time than it takes me to grab a cup of coffee they can completely disappear! Hense the renewed focus on baby proofing. And my sudden interest in getting the babies locator devices (just kidding).
Well, bottom line, the kids are happy and healthy as we head towards the finish line of the first year. What comes next? Well, I've heard tell that it includes tantrums and the ability to say, "NO!" at the top of their lungs, but it also comes with the ability to crawl into our laps for kisses and snuggles, so we're still looking forward to it.
The pictures from east coast Auntie Sheryl came the other day and as you can see she was able to capture the fact that Faye does smile (something she doesn't do often for the camera). Here she is, freshly bathed, being her most charming for her Auntie Sheryl.
Lenny loves bath time as you can tell. He has so much hair now that I can play with it in the tub, which of course I do! It's hard to tell here, but it's actually curly, too, just like Ed's.
Here we are on the Sunday of Sheryl's visit, all dressed up to go to my grandparents' 75th birthday party. My mom's parents were born on the same day, cute hunh? So of course, Lenny and Faye must be dressed for the occasion. Can you believe I actually have a tie on Lenny??? He loves it! Seriously, he's worn it several times and always seems quiet pleased with his dapper appearance.
Here we are, one happy little family!
Lenny votes for lobster for dinner. Unfortunately that wasn't on the menu, but he did eat plenty from his father's plate.
I hope you all feel loved and special (and got to eat some chocolate), because that's what today's all about! As you can see, Lenny and Faye got into the spirit by wearing their romantically inspired jammies (yes, Lenny's jammies do proclaim him to be a heart breaker, but what can I say?).
Ed, the kids and I all had a great day. Ed took the day off, so we got to enjoy each other's and the kids' company, which was the nice.

My dad gets to take a photo with both Lenny and Faye. Incidentally, this was taken the night he came over and fixed our furnace which had stopped working. Have I mentioned that it's been EXTREMELY cold out here? My daddy was quite popular in our house that night. Thanks, Daddy!!!!
Alright, I know I used to post A LOT more often, but I swear (and I'm talking to you East Coast girls) I am truly busy! Sure Lenny and Faye play with each other and barely look at me, but they move now, so I have to keep an eye on them at all times. Ok, yes, I could have them play by the computer, but really, the computer chair isn't nearly as comfortable as the recliner in the front room. Plus, those romance novels won't read themselves! I promise to try harder.
This is what one child asleep and one child occupying herself looks like, otherwise known as sanity. Isn't it beautiful?
No reason at all. I just haven't blogged in a while and I thought these pictures were particularly cute.
For those of you not in Chicago, let me just tell you, "IT'S SO COLD!!!!" It's been a little sad the past couple of weeks as the weather has gotten unbearably cold, and I haven't wanted to drag the kids out in it unnecessarily.
So that means, you guessed it, I've spend A LOT of time inside. So why no blogging during that time, you ask? Well, it seems the kids are easily bored as well, so I've been making a pretty good fool of myself to keep them entertained. It's worked well, but leaves precious little time for blogging. However, sometimes I need a giggle, hence the above pictures.
Yes, yes, it's been a long time since the last post. I know, I've been slacking, but really I haven't. Lots has been going on and I just haven't gotten a chance to sit down at the computer long enough to go through my pictures.
So, what's the update on the kids? Well, for those of you anxiously awaiting, I'm sorry to say that they're not crawling yet. They're also not reading or doing algebra, so we're just biding our time knowing they'll do all three in their own sweet time.
What are they doing? Well, Lenny is holding his bottle himself these days (quite the big boy, I must say!) and he's quite proud of himself. This is something that Ed and I had been trying for some time to get him to do and he was never quite interested. So how did he catch on? He spend the weekend by Grandma and Grandpa Nichin's and they put him through bottle boot camp! It definitely makes life a little easier.
Lenny is also on the move, despite not having crawling in his repertoire. He rolls and scootches from one end of the room to the other so my days of lying him down and running to the bathroom are OVER. But it's great, because he's able to explore and it makes him so happy. He's also chattering quite a bit now. He can say "ma-ma," "da-da," "ba-ba" and a host of other sounds then end in "ah." We're pretty sure he doesn't associate a meaning to them yet, but he says them with a lot of conviction.
Lenny's loving Iggy and vice versa. We were in Wisconsin visiting Ed's parents, so we had Iggy kenneled for the weekend. When she came home, Lenny was thrilled!!! He's as gentle as he can be with her (which isn't always saying much) and she's VERY gentle and patient with him and with Faye.
Lenny's also big into musical toys these days. These maracas that he got from Nana Boyle are a HUGE hit!
He shares them very nicely with his sister, who prefers the tamborine a bit more.
And what about Faye, you may ask? We'll like Lenny she's babbling up a storm, but she's more in zurbert mode these days. She's also added a weird, grunting, goat-like noise to her list of sounds. She loves it. I'm not that crazy about it myself, but what do I know?
Faye's also learned to scootch on her back. She actually got a couple of feet this morning and surprised me. Which made me think, I REALLY have to finish child proofing the house!!! Fortunately, I have several safe spaces for them to play so I can leave them alone for a few seconds.
Faye and Lenny have also started to get their first teeth. It's funny because I wouldn't have even known that they were coming in, but Faye was chewing on my finger the other day and I noticed it then. In retrospect she has been chewing on anything she could get her hands on (socks included), but there hasn't been a whole lot of crabbiness or sleeplessness. Yet. We'll see how they go.
Over all, we're all doing great. The kids, who were sick with one thing or another from before Thanksgiving until after New Year's, have been germ free for over a week! I'm ecstatic!!! And they're getting bigger and cuter everyday (as I'm sure the pictures show). One final note: Ed pointed out the other day that they've been out of the womb longer than they were in it now. An interesting milestone, hunh?
