I hope you all feel loved and special (and got to eat some chocolate), because that's what today's all about! As you can see, Lenny and Faye got into the spirit by wearing their romantically inspired jammies (yes, Lenny's jammies do proclaim him to be a heart breaker, but what can I say?).
Ed, the kids and I all had a great day. Ed took the day off, so we got to enjoy each other's and the kids' company, which was the nice.
Other tid-bits:
Here are the kids in the hats their aunt Donna knit for them. Aren't they cute?
Lenny, taking a break from his bottle, smiles for the camera.
Faye spends some time tearing up magazine coupons before bedtime. How relaxing!
Ed and Lenny take a snooze.
My dad gets to take a photo with both Lenny and Faye. Incidentally, this was taken the night he came over and fixed our furnace which had stopped working. Have I mentioned that it's been EXTREMELY cold out here? My daddy was quite popular in our house that night. Thanks, Daddy!!!!
Alright, I know I used to post A LOT more often, but I swear (and I'm talking to you East Coast girls) I am truly busy! Sure Lenny and Faye play with each other and barely look at me, but they move now, so I have to keep an eye on them at all times. Ok, yes, I could have them play by the computer, but really, the computer chair isn't nearly as comfortable as the recliner in the front room. Plus, those romance novels won't read themselves! I promise to try harder.
This is what one child asleep and one child occupying herself looks like, otherwise known as sanity. Isn't it beautiful?

No reason at all. I just haven't blogged in a while and I thought these pictures were particularly cute.
For those of you not in Chicago, let me just tell you, "IT'S SO COLD!!!!" It's been a little sad the past couple of weeks as the weather has gotten unbearably cold, and I haven't wanted to drag the kids out in it unnecessarily.
So that means, you guessed it, I've spend A LOT of time inside. So why no blogging during that time, you ask? Well, it seems the kids are easily bored as well, so I've been making a pretty good fool of myself to keep them entertained. It's worked well, but leaves precious little time for blogging. However, sometimes I need a giggle, hence the above pictures.
Yes, yes, it's been a long time since the last post. I know, I've been slacking, but really I haven't. Lots has been going on and I just haven't gotten a chance to sit down at the computer long enough to go through my pictures.
So, what's the update on the kids? Well, for those of you anxiously awaiting, I'm sorry to say that they're not crawling yet. They're also not reading or doing algebra, so we're just biding our time knowing they'll do all three in their own sweet time.
What are they doing? Well, Lenny is holding his bottle himself these days (quite the big boy, I must say!) and he's quite proud of himself. This is something that Ed and I had been trying for some time to get him to do and he was never quite interested. So how did he catch on? He spend the weekend by Grandma and Grandpa Nichin's and they put him through bottle boot camp! It definitely makes life a little easier.
Lenny is also on the move, despite not having crawling in his repertoire. He rolls and scootches from one end of the room to the other so my days of lying him down and running to the bathroom are OVER. But it's great, because he's able to explore and it makes him so happy. He's also chattering quite a bit now. He can say "ma-ma," "da-da," "ba-ba" and a host of other sounds then end in "ah." We're pretty sure he doesn't associate a meaning to them yet, but he says them with a lot of conviction.

Lenny's loving Iggy and vice versa. We were in Wisconsin visiting Ed's parents, so we had Iggy kenneled for the weekend. When she came home, Lenny was thrilled!!! He's as gentle as he can be with her (which isn't always saying much) and she's VERY gentle and patient with him and with Faye.
Lenny's also big into musical toys these days. These maracas that he got from Nana Boyle are a HUGE hit!
He shares them very nicely with his sister, who prefers the tamborine a bit more.
And what about Faye, you may ask? We'll like Lenny she's babbling up a storm, but she's more in zurbert mode these days. She's also added a weird, grunting, goat-like noise to her list of sounds. She loves it. I'm not that crazy about it myself, but what do I know?
Faye's also learned to scootch on her back. She actually got a couple of feet this morning and surprised me. Which made me think, I REALLY have to finish child proofing the house!!! Fortunately, I have several safe spaces for them to play so I can leave them alone for a few seconds.
Faye and Lenny have also started to get their first teeth. It's funny because I wouldn't have even known that they were coming in, but Faye was chewing on my finger the other day and I noticed it then. In retrospect she has been chewing on anything she could get her hands on (socks included), but there hasn't been a whole lot of crabbiness or sleeplessness. Yet. We'll see how they go.
Over all, we're all doing great. The kids, who were sick with one thing or another from before Thanksgiving until after New Year's, have been germ free for over a week! I'm ecstatic!!! And they're getting bigger and cuter everyday (as I'm sure the pictures show). One final note: Ed pointed out the other day that they've been out of the womb longer than they were in it now. An interesting milestone, hunh?
Oh holy night, your stars were brightly shining! That's right folks, I have pictures of the babies from Christmas Eve and this post is just a thinly veiled attempted to show my babies off! Every year we spend Christmas Eve with my mother and her family. This year was no exception and it was a wonderful evening. Lenny and Faye were spoiled rotten with love and attention (not to mention presents) and they got to spend some time with their cousin Annika whom they just adore.
We were the first to arrive so Faye quickly settled in with Great-grandma Gottmann and got her picture taken in her very pretty Christmas dress.
Lenny couldn't wait for the presents and hit the floor to start checking things out.
Annika and her parents showed up next, so the three kids played on the floor for awhile, but when Auntie Cory showed up everyone wanted to spend time with her. Here's Annika, showing off her adorable Santa dress and snuggling up with her Aunt Cory.
Next it was time to open presents. Great-grandpa Gottmann got a sweet University of San Diego baseball cap from Cory, and Lenny couldn't wait to try it on. It didn't quite fit him, but Great-grandpa's head is much larger.
Faye spent the present opening spree with Grandpa Boyle, her dollie and a bottle. Not a bad way to spend the evening.
Lenny spent most of his present opening time on his daddy's lap, smiling and giggling up a storm.
After a while, all the excitement wore little Faye out, so she settled in for a nap with Nana Boyle.

How do kids know when it's the last few weeks before Christmas? Well, however it is, Faye and Lenny are clued in and on their best behavior. I just can't express what a joy to be around they've been the past couple of weeks.
Here they are, last Monday, at my friend Paula's house. Sweet as could be all day long, and when we were getting ready to leave, they had a little giggle fest with each other. I think they got a real kick out of each other's hats. Here's hopping they stay this happy all year long!
I know, I know, it's been a long time since I blogged. But A LOT has been going on. First of all, the kids have been sick since before Thanksgiving. It evolved last week into some pretty high temperatures - that was fun. The best part (and I'm being sarcastic, which I'm not sure translates well on the internet) was that my doctor's nurses line told me to bring the babies into the office since their temperatures lasted four days, but when I got there, the doctor I saw said, "Yeah, well, kids this age get about 1 cold a month. You'll just have to tough it out." I could have told him that!!! I paid for this?
Anyway, on a lighter note, Lenny and Faye are getting bigger and stronger everyday. Faye sits up quite nicely (with some help) and spends quite a lot of time on her tummy (voluntarily I might add).
Lenny, in turn, has been scooching up a storm. Here's a picture of him on the floor. He started off on his back on the mat behind him and wound up here within a matter of 2 - 3 minutes. He's a determined little thing. Still no crawling, but it won't be long now.
Other than that, we're just preparing for Christmas and enjoying the mild weather while it lasts. And, yes, for you astute viewers, Lenny and Faye are dressed the same today. I just couldn't resist!
